Button and Squirt: Amazing Birds of Prey Fact Cards

Do you love Birds of Prey?

Then let me introduce you to our Amazing Birds of Prey fact cards!

I have always been fascinated by birds of prey, they are such beautiful creatures, and I have absolutely loved taking the time to study them, draw them, and learn about them, to create this set of fact cards.

As ever, this set has been designed and illustrated by myself in my home studio in sunny Wiltshire, and printed in the UK using sustainable materials and coated with a water based varnish that means they remain recyclable at the end of their life. They are printed in a solar powered factory.

What are they?

Each Card features one of my original animal drawings, along with their common name on one side and their scientific name, their wingspan, what they eat, their conservation status and 3 fun facts on the back. The background colour of each card represents where in the world they live.

What Birds of Prey are in the set?

How to use them!

Use the cards to learn more about some of the amazing birds that we share the earth with, then play against each other to see who knows more, scoring points for all the facts that you know, with a bonus five points for remembering their scientifc names. Each card is also colour co-ordinated in a range of colours to show which area of the earth they are found in.
There are lots of different ways to play and they really do appeal to all ages.
Some ways we play, are to match up toys to the cards, to play snap with the coloured backgrounds, to put them in order of size and compare to ourselves, to simply identify the birds, to remember facts to win the cards, as well as using them as resources at drawing time and as inspiration for writing stories. We love hearing how you play with yours too.

So this is me and my two boys...eventually I might have a photo with hubby in it too but it’s probably too much to ask that everyone will be looking the right way and actually like the photo when it’s taken...so for now this will have to do the job.

Welcome to Button and Squirt! Im Ria, Im mummy to Dexter and Axel the inspiration for everything here at Button and Squirt, even the name (thats their nicknames that my Dad gave them when they were born).

I have always loved animals, nature and the world around me. Since I was very young I loved to find out everything I could about animals and I equally loved to draw and paint. My mum still has a hedgehog picture I created out of off cuts of vinyl tiles and she let me loose in my play room as a child and let me paint the entire wall with a huge orca.

Fast forward a few years (cough) and I had my first child, from the moment that kid knew what he was looking at he fell in love with nature and animals, and that passion and excitement started to rub off on me again and my love for it all came rushing back to the forefront of my mind.

That brings us up to now, where my love of drawing and animals has been brought back to life with Button and Squirt. I draw unusual animals from around the world to create my amazing animals fact cards to teach kids (and adults) all about the animals that we share the earth with, to hopefully help them to fall in love and want to protect them for the future.

Over the past few years I have created and released fourteen sets of cards, with matching colouring books, three fact and activity books and two puzzles, alongside notebooks and some fun gift items. I am constantly working on new items to add to the range, with Amazing Birds of Prey and Amazing Nature Journal hopefully coming out later this year.
